This is a photographic review of the some of the new and more interesting things that we saw at the Orange County CSA Show at the Crystal Court Mall at South Coast Plaza on February 3 - 6 1999. Click on the thumbnail images to bring up a larger image (size shown in kilobytes).
Crystal Court sponsors a massive display in the rotunda of the mall for the OCCSA show. This year, the display featured a seascape scene and was about 25 feet tall. Fish and seahorses floated around a central reef with shells, starfish, corals and other sea creatures. 63 kb. | |

The show at Crystal Court is put on by the Orange County Branch of the CSA. This display was the one put in by the San Diego County CSA branch, and it featured mostly Cymbidiums and Paphs. 68 kb. | |
Andy Phillips (Andy's Orchids) consistently puts together a fine display of nothing but species. This is his display in the 2000 show, and was spectacular as usual, towering 12 feet in the air. Andy received the AOS Show Trophy and the trophy for the best display. 85 kb. | |

This fine Paph. mastersianum was one of the many paphs in the South Bay Orchid Society display, and it received a B/CSA in the show. 55kb. | |
One of the highlights of the Species Society display was this beautifully grown and flowered Maxillaria sophronitis 'Red Sparks' which received a CCM/AOS. 69 kb. | |
The Rowland Collection specializes in miniature and novelty cymbidiums as well as paphs. This shows one side of the display and some of the Paphs and cymbidiums. 71 kb. | |
Cym. Laura Valine 'Jade & Gold' was a very nice green cymbidium in the Rowland Collection display. It received a B/CSA at the show. 57 kb. | |
We have put in a display of cymbidiums in the Orange County Show for the last 18 years. This shows part of our 1999 display which won the CSA Gold Medal for the best display of Cymbidiums in the show, with a number of first bloom seedlings and red and orange flowers. 92 kb. | |

Orchids of Los Osos had a nice table top display of Paphs, and won the Paph Gold Medal from the CSA. One of the best was this Paph. Micranthum Mike which received an AM/AOS and S/CSA, and was the best Paph in the show. 61 kb. | |

Sunset Orchids had their normal display of impressive odont intergeneric hybrids, Lycaste hybrids and Miltonias. This beautiful blush pink Lycaste Karen Farrell 'Sunset 'Beauty' impressed me this year. 45 kb. | |
Another Lycaste in the Sunset Orchids was also very impressive. This Lycaste (Kiama x Koolena) 'Preciosa' was a beautiful clear dark pink color. 49 kb. | |

Bright yellow flowers are a rarity in the Odontoglossum alliance. This plant of Oda. George McMahon is a splendid example of a great yellow and was in the Sunset Orchids display. 48 kb. | |
Odontioda hybrids often have striking color patterns, and Sunset Orchids showed this plant of Oda. (Stropheon x Mont Aldee) has a nice dark burgundy red pattern on a sparkling white flower. 59 kb. | |

Phalaenopsis are always in evidence at this show. One of the most striking was this (Phal. Ida Fukamura x Dtps. King Shaw Rose), a beautiful feathered dark rose shown by Oceanside Orchids. 43 kb. | |
Orquidea Wholesaler included this nice finely spotted Phal. Brother Lance 'TK' in their display. 65 kb. | |
