List of 2017 divisions

Welcome to our list of divisions for the 2017-18 season. Please note that these are subject to prior sale and are limited to the quantities listed. One division per plant per customer, please. There are also sprouted backbulbs available from selected plants. These are listed separately at the end of the list. Note that names such as '1643 A' are not true clonal names, but merely internal reference numbers, and can be changed after consulting us. Any plants marked with a star (*) by the price can be shipped right away for those of you outside California; others will need to be picked up at the nursery or at a show. Orders from this list will be taken at list price; note that prices for plants in spike or flower at a show or sale may be different, especially for plants with multiple spikes. Please send in all orders via email to provide an exact time in case of multiple requests for the same plant. Last updated 4/12/2018, 11:00 AM.

Photographs are provided when available. Thanks to Art Pinkers for providing many of the pictures.

It can hold a pod and be a pollen parent, and produces good seedlings, although it may be difficult to set a pod. The peloric charactistic will breed on in limited percentages when used with other petal peloric plants, but we are using it. Probably a diploid. 5"* - $45

Peter Dawson 'Grenadier' G/CSA AM/AOS is a large 5 inch white flower with a greenish background. It can have up to 16 well spaced and presented flowers on the spike. The primary drawback to this plant is a relatively weak spike while it is developing, so that it needs a number of ties. Once set, the spike is self supporting. We use it occasionally but try to improve the spike habit. This is from a meristem. Tetraploid for Jan.-Feb. Gallon - $35
Queasy '#1' is an early blooming fragrant light red. We have used it a couple of times lately to try to get more fragrant seedlings. Fairly compact plant. Blooms in Nov.-Dec. Gallon - $20

Sweet Spot '1641A' is another one of our spotted seedlings, from a cross of (Pfeiffer Falls x Dotz 'Incredible'. Should have an interesting background color with lots of dark spotting on an arching spike. Gallon - $30

Via Coyote 'Blackbeard' is a nice dark red for midseason. Fairly compact plants. We've used it for breeding a couple of times. Blooms in Feb.-March. Gallon - $20, 2Gallon (2) - $25
Cym. Via del Playa 'Pinkie' B/CSA is a nice clear pink round 4 inch flower with up to 14 flowers on a 3 foot spike and often has 2 spikes on a bulb. We haven't used this much due to the relatively small flower size, but the hybrids with this as a parent have been nice clear round pinks. Vigorous grower. Tetraploid. Gallon* - $20
Wichita 'Princess' is a very unusual petal peloric pink. Loren would refer to this as a "cattlidium" because the ruffled petals were similar looking to those of a cattleya. Can be difficult to grow and bloom; not recommended for the novice. 5" - $200
Wistful (Quasar x Dorothy Rowe) 'FF' is a smallish standard dark pink tetraploid that blooms in the spring. Good grower and is fairly floriferous. 2Gallon - $25

(Dosido x So Bold) '1704A' is from a cross we made to try to get frangrance using Dosido 'Sunset'. This one also had the best overall flower quality we saw. Gallon(3) - $20
(Lotza Spotz x Pywacket) 'Sunrise' is an interesting new spotted hybrid. Lots of spotting over a light yellow-orange base. Not the best shape due to the tracyanum influence. First release. Gallon - $35
(Parish Jewel x Ruby Eyes) 'Sweetie' is a compact growing light red with arching to pendant spikes. 6" - $20, 5" - $15
(Valley Sovereign x Avranches) 'Daffodil' is a nice large flowered yellow with some red patterning on the lip. Good grower. First release. Gallon - $25, 6" - $20
(Via del Playa x Pepper's Fire) '#1' is one of a cross made with the famous Pepper's Fire 'Fiesta' to attempt to breed the petal peloric characteristic. Growth habit is more compact; not quite as much as Pepper's Fire, however. Early to midseason blooming tetraploid. Gallon(4)* - $20, 6"(3)* - $20
(Via del Playa x Pepper's Fire) '#2' is another of a cross made with the famous Pepper's Fire 'Fiesta' to attempt to breed the petal peloric characteristic. We've crossed '#1' with '#2' to test a theory about petal peloric breeding, but none have reached blooming size yet. Larger growing plant, more akin to Via del Playa. Early to midseason blooming tetraploid. Gallon - $20
